POTUS 22: Two V or Not Two V

14 minutes read time

In 1841, three presidents served within the same year. This period marked the end of Cycle One and the beginning of Cycle Two. Similarly, this cycle also had three presidents in 1881. POTUS 19 finished his term, POTUS 20 for 199 days before being assassinated, and POTUS 21 unexpectedly became president.

Once again, the expedited succession allows for the arrival of the next master number POTUS at just the right time. The former cycle ended 36 years sooner than if each POTUS had served two terms. Cumulatively, this cycle began 56 years early.

Slavery was no longer permitted. The scars of the Civil War were being healed instead of holding on to the 11 energy of the earlier cycle. Already divided and re-united, would we survive until the next master number president? Who would be POTUS 22?

POTUS 19 Rutherford B. Hayes (1877-1881) One-term Whig turned Republican. Military Service: Major General for the Union Army during the American Civil War. Governor of Ohio and US Representative from Ohio. Lost the popular vote in the election of 1876 and neither side secured enough electoral votes to declare a winner. In an obvious backroom deal, Hayes agreed to end the military occupation of the former Confederate States. He also agreed to stop federal funding for Reconstruction. The major issue involved calling on the Army to resolve the Railroad Strike of 1877. First president to use a telephone in the White House.

POTUS 20 James A. Garfield (1881-1881) One-term Republican. Freemason. Military Service: Lieutenant Colonel and Major General for the Union Army during the American Civil War. Ohio State Senator and US Representative from Ohio for nine terms. While in office as POTUS he fought corruption, primarily within the Post Office, and advocated for civil rights for Blacks. Fourth POTUS to die while in office, the second by assassination. His death occurred 11 weeks after being shot, as a result of unsanitary medical treatment.

POTUS 21 Chester A. Arthur (1881-1885) One-term Republican. Military Service: Brigadier General New York Militia during the American Civil War. Vice president to POTUS 20. Formerly appointed by POTUS 19 to the powerful position of Collector of the Port of New York. As POTUS he dealt with issues around Chinese immigration, tariffs, and rebuilding the Navy. He did not seek re-election and died a little more than a year after leaving office.

POTUS 22 Grover Cleveland (1885-1889) One-term Democratic. As Mayor of Buffalo, he was known for cleaning up corruption. Within a year, he was elected as Governor of New York. There, he was known for slashing budgets and reducing pork barrel spending. Signed the Interstate Commerce Act to gain control of railroads. The first Democratic POTUS in nearly three decades, and the only Democratic POTUS in this cycle. His administration opposed special favors to any economic group, claiming that it encouraged dependence on the federal government. The administration even scrutinized pensions to Civil War vets. Vetoed more than 400 spending bills in his first term. Cleveland was admired for his integrity amid widespread corruption. When a scandal surfaced regarding Cleveland having a child out of wedlock, he did not lie or deny it. First president to marry in the White House. During the 1888 election for a second term, POTUS 22 won the popular vote. However, he lost the electoral count to Benjamin Harrison.

POTUS 19 had a one-term presidency. POTUS 20 and 21 together served another four years. POTUS 22 arrived 68 years sooner than history could have unfolded. The person filling the role of POTUS 22 could have been a completely different person. But POTUS 22 arrived at this point in time with the man known as Grover Cleveland.

What does his numerical fingerprint reveal?

Stephen Grover Cleveland

DATE OF BIRTH: March 18, 1837
  • BIRTH DATE = 31/4 or 3+18+1837 = 1858 = 22
  • VOWELS = 41/5 (full); 32/5 (reduced)
  • CONSONANTS = 209/11 (full); 74/11 (reduced)
  • FIRST NAME = 87/15/6 (full); 33 (reduced)
  • MIDDLE NAME = 85/13/4 (full); 40/4 (reduced)
  • LAST NAME = 78/15/6 (full); 33 (reduced)
  • FULL NAME (22 letters) = 250/7 (full); 16/7 (reduced)
  • MOST COMMON NUMBERS = seven 5s, three 3s and 4s, two each of 1, 7, 9
  • LEAST COMMON OR MISSING NUMBERS = one each of 2, 6, and 8, with none missing

When we look at the date of birth, nothing in the way of master numbers jumps out. If the numbers are added MM+DD+YYYY the sum is 1858, and those numbers add to 22. That is not particularly striking and would otherwise be considered only slightly noteworthy. Yet, Cleveland was 47 (4+7=11) years old when he took office as POTUS 22 on March 4, 1885. Note the numbers in that date (3+4+1+8+8+5=29/11) and the numbers in 1885 add to 22. Likewise, he was 55 during the election for POTUS 24, celebrating his 56th birthday (5+6=11) shortly after taking office. Despite a mediocre date of birth, his age at significant milestones in his presidency coincides with master numbers. These master numbers are worthy of attention.

Turning to the name, things become even more interesting. Like POTUS 11 with his two Ks, POTUS 22 has two Vs, the 22nd letter of the alphabet. Polk’s numbers were weak overall, with the saving grace being the presence of the two Ks. Consider it a coincidence that POTUS 11 had two Ks. Now we have POTUS 22 with two Vs? This may surpass the realm of coincidence. Cleveland has the obvious two Vs and the “ph” in his first name Stephen is pronounced “V.” Some historians recall that Cleveland was often referred to informally as “Big Steve.” So, in essence, POTUS 22 has three Vs in his name.

As a twist on Hamlet’s soliloquy while contemplating the meaning of life “to be or not to be” now you may ponder the meaning of Two V or Not Two V.

It doesn’t end there.

  • The full name contains 22 letters
  • CONSONANTS: 11
  • FIRST NAME (reduced): 33; FIRST NAME CONSONANTS: 77
  • MIDDLE NAME VOWELS (reduced): 11; MIDDLE NAME CONSONANTS (reduced): 11
  • LAST NAME (reduced): 33; LAST NAME VOWELS: 11; LAST NAME CONSONANTS (reduced) 22
  • INITIALS: S G C = 19+7+3 = 29/11

The most common numbers found in this name appear as seven 5s (E, N). There are also three 3s (C, L) and three 4s (D, V). Additionally, there are two each of 1 (A, S), 7 (G, P), and 9 (R). Some of these numbers occur as VOWELS (5), MIDDLE NAME (4), FULL NAME (7).

The least common numbers come as one each of 2 (T), 6 (O), and 8 (H). The deficiencies of 2 and 8 are not found elsewhere, with 6 as totals for FIRST NAME and LAST NAME. This numerical fingerprint has no missing numbers.

Cleveland arrives in the middle of Cycle Three serving as POTUS 22 and POTUS 24. This balances the cycle with three POTUS and one assassination shortly before him. There are also three POTUS and an assassination after him.

No offense to bricklayers, but brick-and-mortar construction succumbs to impact and can be knocked down. It deteriorates over time and is not recommended in earthquake zones. A stonemason who can cut and set stones understands the benefits of extra effort. This results in greater strength, longevity, and aesthetic quality.

Looking through the lens of Freemasonry with the filter of numbers helps construct a building. It also aids in the development of a person or a country.

Cleveland’s numerical fingerprint is very robust. It stands out when considering the abundance of master numbers. This suggests that he was the right person at the right time to be POTUS 22.

Between the last stop of POTUS 11 and now, the nation endured unbelievable turmoil and too many unnecessary deaths. Now, it was back on course and humming along at a comfortable speed, enjoying the rapidly changing view.

Continuing the journey into the unknown, the roadmap hints at the next major stop at POTUS 33. Buckle up.

POTUS 23 Benjamin Harrison (1889-1893) One-term Republican. Military Service: U.S. Army during the Civil War, recruited Army volunteers in Indiana. Grandson of POTUS 9. US Senator from Indiana. His presidency dealt with tariff issues and a Treasury surplus that was hurting businesses. The Sherman Act was the first antitrust law of this time. It prohibited business monopolies and restrictions on interstate commerce. Six states admitted: ND, SD, MT, WA, ID, and WY (39 through 44) during this administration. Renominated in 1892 for a second term but was defeated by Cleveland who he had defeated four years earlier. Harrison left office during the 1893 Depression.

POTUS 24 Grover Cleveland (1893-1897) One-term Democratic. POTUS 22 returned to win the 1892 election and became POTUS 24. The public admired his dedication to honest and limited government. During his second term, Cleveland dealt with a Treasury Crisis (again the controversy over gold v. silver), and sent federal troops to manage a railroad workers’ strike. Utah was admitted as the 45th state. The Democratic Party deserted him in the 1896 election and nominated William Jennings Bryan, who did not win. First and only president to serve two non-consecutive terms. The likeness of Cleveland is featured on the $1,000 bill if anyone has one stashed away.

Spoiler Alert: In a presentation of the 46 US presidents, they are split into two groups. Cleveland appears at the bottom of the first. He also appears at the top of the second, with one POTUS in between. His two-pronged appearance balances Cycle Three. This is further evidence of his auspicious place in history. Additionally, Cleveland falls nearly in the exact middle of the presidential parade. There are 21 presidents before him as POTUS 22. With POTUS 46 presently in office, there have been 22 presidents since he left office as POTUS 24.

Returning to the present day 2024 for a moment, the election of POTUS 47 shows a similar possibility. With Donald Trump appearing at the end of Cycle Five as POTUS 45, and now at the top of Cycle Six after one POTUS in between, he could become POTUS 47. One difference among many is that Cleveland was Democratic and Trump is Republican.

POTUS 25 William McKinley (1897-1901) Two-term Republican. Military Service: enlisted into the Union Army in 1861 and served until 1865, reaching the rank of brevet major.  Served 14 years in Congress, Governor of Ohio. His administration enacted the highest tariff in history. Conflict ensued over whether to use a gold or silver-backed currency. When Spanish forces invaded Cuba, POTUS 25 declared war to liberate the island. This led to the 100-day Spanish-American War, the only major conflict during this cycle. The US annexed the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico from Spain. POTUS 25 won re-election but was shot by “a deranged anarchist” at the Buffalo Pan-American Expo. He died six months into his second term. Fifth POTUS to die while in office, the third by assassination.

POTUS 26 Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1909) Two-term Republican. Freemason. Military Service: Roosevelt was considered a war hero as a colonel during the Spanish-American War. He also fought in the Battle of San Juan. He was known for organizing his own volunteer cavalry called the Rough Riders. Governor of New York. Second vice president to POTUS 25 and assumed office after his assassination. At the age of 42, he remains the youngest person to become POTUS. Known for the construction of the Panama Canal, and for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the Russo-Japanese War. Believed strongly in conservation, preserving national forests, public use lands, and major irrigation projects. Roosevelt created the Bureau of Investigation (BOI) as an investigative branch of the Department of Justice. In 1935 it would be renamed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Oklahoma was admitted as the 46th state. After leaving office in 1909, he embarked on an African Safari. He returned in time to run for POTUS again during the 1912 election against Woodrow Wilson. However, he was shot while campaigning. He survived to live another seven years. Roosevelt often appears on the list of Top 10 most influential POTUS. He is one of four presidents featured on Mount Rushmore.

POTUS 27 William Taft (1909-1913) One-term Republican. Freemason. Federal Circuit Judge, and Chief Civil Administrator in the Philippines under POTUS 25. Secretary of War under POTUS 26. His administration improved roads, schools, and the economy. The administration built on the antitrust laws of the Sherman Act with the Clayton Act. New Mexico and Arizona were admitted as the 47th and 48th states. Later appointed as Chief Justice by POTUS 29. The only POTUS to hold both positions.

SUMMARY OF CYCLE THREE

BOLD=Master Number ITALIC+A=Assassination ITALIC+D=Death
  • Master Number: POTUS 22 (the only Democratic POTUS in this cycle)
  • Freemasons: 4. POTUS 20, POTUS 25, POTUS 26, POTUS 27
  • Death while in office: 2. POTUS 20 and POTUS 25 both due to complications from gunshots by an assassin
  • States added: 10. POTUS 23: ND, SD, MT, WA, ID, WY; POTUS 24: UT; POTUS 26: OK; POTUS 27: NM, AZ, bringing the total to 48
  • One-term: 5. All Republican, with POTUS 20 ending early. Two-term: 2. All Republican with the death of POTUS 25 early in his second term. The only Democratic POTUS in this cycle served two non-consecutive terms as POTUS 22 and POTUS 24.
  • Duration: 36 years. This cycle mirrored Cycle Two, which was evenly split and lasted for 36 years. It concluded 36 years earlier than it would have if each POTUS served two full terms. This accelerated the start of the next cycle. Cumulatively, the next cycle began 92 years early.
  • Inventions and Innovations: Perhaps because everyone was too busy killing each other, the earlier two cycles saw little in the way of innovation or technological advancement past the use of steamboats and locomotives, the telegraph, and rudimentary photography. Cycle Three, a time known as the Gilded Age, saw the development of electricity, the light bulb, phonograph, telephone, automobile, radio, television, airplanes, skyscrapers, film cameras, machine guns, among many others. All would change US society and foster technological advances around the world. The drilling of oil proliferated in the Mid-Continent regions of KS, OK, TX, and LA, and in Southern California. More national parks were designated during this cycle: Sequoia, Yosemite, Mount Rainier, Crater Lake, and Mesa Verde.
  • Population Centers: The largest cities at the end of this cycle: New York City (4.7 million), Chicago (2.1 million), Philadelphia (1.5 million), Saint Louis (687,000), Boston (670,000), Cleveland (560,000), Baltimore (558,000), Pittsburgh (533,000), Detroit (465,000), Buffalo (423,000)
